We are delighted to welcome Dr Sophie Shearwood back to AMC as a Resident Medical Officer (RMO)! Sophie was last with us for 10 weeks in mid 2025 as an intern. Sophie will be a part of our team for the next 13 weeks whilst on her placement here at as RMO.
“It’s so exciting to be back in Angaston as an RMO! I am originally from Adelaide but studied at the University of Queensland, graduating with my MD in 2024.
After 7 years in Queensland I missed South Australia and moved back to Adelaide, and did my internship in 2025 at Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (Flinders Medical Centre) in a various specialities including orthopaedics, general medicine, paediatrics, and general practice/ED at AMC.
I enjoy lots of different aspects of medicine (including emergency medicine and anaesthetics), and am looking forward to the diverse presentations I get to see working in regional general practice.
Outside of work I’m quite active – I love to run and am training for Sydney Marathon in August, and I also enjoy road cycling. Otherwise, you’ll probably find me playing my saxophone or finding a new recipe to cook.”
